Are Your Teenagers Driving You Mad?

Mon 30 Oct 2006

St Albans City and District Council's Community Safety Unit have secured funding to provide a series of workshops for parents and teenagers. These can either be in a group or on a one-to-one basis.

These parenting support sessions which will be run by Hertfordshire Practical Parenting are designed to help parents and their children. The support can cover issues such as anti-social behaviour, crime, drug and alcohol use, problems at school, anger management, along with the following:

  • promoting of independence and personal responsibilities
  • understanding problems between brothers and sisters
  • planning the future with your children
  • encouraging families to communicate with each other
  • conflict and the breakdown of relationships
  • understanding children's feelings
  • how to listen to and communicate with your children
  • problems as children change schools.
In the past this support has helped to greatly improve relationships between teenagers and their parents and has also prevented several young people from being permanently excluded from school.

If you would like a confidential and informal discussion to see if this service could help you, please call the Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordinator, Neil Kieran on 01727 819416.
