Arson
During a seven-year period from 1996 to 2002
there were more than 7,000 primary fires in Hertfordshire which were
started
deliberately.
There are a number of reasons that lead people to deliberately
start fires, such as: -
- Vandalism
- Excitement
- Mental illness
- Revenge
- Curiosity/ Fire play
- Crime Concealment
- Racist/ Hate crime
- Fraud
Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service and Hertfordshire
Constabulary have formed a partnership to crackdown on the number
of deliberate
fires in the county. They have launched an Arson Strategy which aims
to educate, inform and raise awareness in those at risk from deliberate
fire setting.
