Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs)
An ABC is a written agreement, between a person who has been involved
in anti-social behaviour and one or more local agencies whose role
it is to prevent such behaviour. ABCs are most commonly used for young
people but may also be used for adults.
The contract is agreed and signed at a meeting with the individual
and the lead agencies. It specifies a list of anti-social acts that
in which the person has been involved and which they agree not to continue.
Where it is possible, the individual is involved in drawing up the
contract.
If the contract is breached then action taken is determined by the
nature of the breach. This can range from a verbal warning to proceedings
for an Anti-Social Behaviour Order.
